Biography

Born Nyasha Reginald Mano in the vibrant township of Mbare, Harare, Ras Pompy is the last born in a family of three. He lost his father in 2001 when he was just a toddler, and was raised single-handedly by his mother, Alinetty Matimura.

His musical journey began at age 8 when he recorded his debut single Mwari Baba. By 13, he had stormed the Zimdancehall scene, becoming the genre's youngest breakout star on the Bodyslam riddim. Despite his youth, he balanced fame with education — attending Morgan High School before earning a scholarship to Borrowdale Brooke Academy.

By his mid-teens, Ras Pompy was already performing on UK stages. In 2023, he announced a strategic rebranding to refine his sound and image, working with pioneering producers Fantan and Levels at Chillspot Records. He continues to push the genre forward with fresh singles and riddim collaborations.
